I’m grateful that I was inspired to paint this iconic scene on California’s Hwy 1 just south of Santa Cruz before the pier was badly damaged in a catastrophic winter storm. It was exhibited at The Triton Museum of Art “Salon at the Triton Juried Exhibition” in 2024. I’ve been told by more than one visitor that the wide open sky and calm waters provide transport to peaceful thoughts and feelings. Others who’ve lived or were raised in the area have told me they are taken back to tranquil times and fond memories. These reactions are what I strive for in my work.
